Hyvää Joulua! Merry Christmas

Sain eilen toisen tämän vuoden joululahjan valmiiksi - Mummin sukat.

And the same in all the other languages I know...

Yesterday evening I finished my second Christmas gift of the year - My Granny's socks.

Malli: melkein Oma, aloitus varpaista, kirjoneule perinteinen suomalainen
Lanka: 7 Veljestä laivastonsininen, lämmin punainen ja violetti (sormet on sitten verillä taasen..)
Puikot: 3,5 mm eebenpuiset ja joustimessa 3 mm bambut, sukkikset
Kauanko meni: kolme päivää lue: yötä)
Fiilingit: Luulin että nuo punainen ja sininen lanka olisivat loppuneet kesken, mutta vielä mitä... Eihän ne lopu ikuna kikuna! Vielä jäi patalapulliset =D Mutta loputulos on minusta ihan kiva, toivottavasti Mummi tykkää (ja pitää!!! Hän ei useinkaan raski käyttää uusia vaatekappaleita =D)

Pattern: Almost my own, toe up, colourwork is traditional to some part of Finland (I'll check next year...)
Yarn: Novita 7 Veljestä navy blue, warm red and purple (My fingers ache BADLY at the moment, it was harsh work!!)
Needles: 3,5 mm ebenwood dpns plus 3 mm bamboo dpns for the ribbing
How long it took: Three days (or nights in this case..)
Feelings, afterthoughts: Me like. I hope Granny likes them, too. I just thought that the red and blue yarn would run out, but what the h****, I can still make at least one potholder...

Nämä taitavat olla myös vuoden viimeiset. Syksy oli neulomistulosten kannalta heikko, ei ollut yksinkertaisesti aikaa harrastaa kun kaikki aika meni, noh, muiden harrastusten parissa. Keväällä uudella innolla sitten.

Joulun vietänkin sitten sukulaisissa ja siellä on suuri sosialiaation vaara, joten neulominen tulee olemaan vähäistä (plus perinteisestihän neulomukset laitetaan jouluksi koppaan, eikö??)

Tammikuun alussa (joo, 2. päivä jo!!) menen nielurisaleikkaukseen, joten blogi on jälleen hiljainen jonkin aikaa. Toipilasaikana vois tietty neuloa jotain =D

This is also the year's last FO, I think. The fall was quite bad knitting wise, just didn't have enough time for knitting. But I'll return to the task next year with new enthusiasm.


The Christmas will be celebrated amongst family and there's a lot of socializing to happen, so no knitting (plus it is kinda traditional to put the knitting into the basket over Christmas, right??)


I'm also getting my tonsils taken out in the beginning of January, so the Blog will be quiet for a while again. But I hope there shall be some knitting happening!

Uusi viikko... A new week

... joka toivottavasti alkaa paremmalla mielellä kuin edellinen. Kaamosmasennus ja väsymys alkavat jo kovasti hiipiä tähän talouteen (varsinkin kun päivärytmini alkaa taas muuttua "ylös puoli yhdeltätoista, nukkumaan aamukolmelta" -tyyliseksi).

Tämän päivän pyhitän, samoin kuin koko viime viikonlopun päivän ajan tunnit, koulujuttujen tekemiseen. Netissä voi surffailla siis muutenkin kuin neulejuttuja etsien kun vain esyy oikeille sivuille, ahaa! *tässä pitäis nähdä kuinka valolamppu syttyy kirjoittajan pään päälle* Ja ei, en aio syyllistyä plagiointiin!)

No, kumminkin, viikonloppuna edistyivät helmikuussa suunnittelemani neulepuseron hihat (kaikkien sanojen linkit eri kirjoituksiin), mutta voivoi, tuleekohan niistä liian lyhyet?? :S Onhan tuota neuletta jo kypsytelty sen verran kauan että vielä voisi hihat purkaa kavennusten alkuun asti ja neuloa viis senttiä pidemmiksi kun lankaa kumminkin riittää. Lahjasuat olivat jäähyllä, kun unohdin ottaa pienemmät puikot mukaan resoria varten. Viime yönä aloitin senkin..

...which I hope to be better than the last. It's really getting dark up here - we only have about 5 hours of daylight left, the rest is darkness. So my daily routine tends to be: out of bed at around 10:30 am and back to sleep at 3 am.. Just like last year.

Today I've, however, gotten up at 9 am and am suffering from a lack of sleep (well, I slept very well through the weekend but last night...). I'm going to try and get some school stuff done (meeting my professor tomorrow and getting a serious scolding...). And hey! you can use the Internet for school stuff as well!! There're other things besides knitting stuff**! Wau! *See the Big light bulp lit at the side of the writer's head*

**And no, I'm not going to commit plagiarism!!

Over the weekend I got some essays done and knit forward the sleeves for my sweater, started in February.. (links to my old text in the Finnish text) The sleeves seem to be a little too shot, so I ight have to rip some of it.. But, it WILL be worth it. The gift socks were put on the side due to lack of suitable equipment. But they're going to be finished tonight, I think.

Edistysraportti - Progress report

Viikonlopun niinä hetkinä kun oleskelin autuaassa yksinäisyydessä Open Cablen (eli taivaskanavien ilmaisjakelun) parissa, jotain vähän tapahtui:

Over the weekend, which I mainly spent alone in front of the telly watching free cable (a campaign only... *sniff*), there was also some knitting happening:

Thermal on nyt noin 15 sentin korkuinen. Aion tehdä siihen useamman tuollaisen kahden mustan raidan "sarjan". Mustat raidat ovat yhden mallikerran korkuisia ja niiden välissä oleva fuksianpunainen raita taas 2 mallikertaa. Hirveesti haluttais jo kokeilla =D

My Thermal is now abt 15 cm, so there's another 15 cm to go before the armhole decreases. I'll be making a few of thse two black stripe "sequences". The stripes are one pattern repeat high and the fuchsia in the middle is two pattern repeats. I'd love to try it on already =D

3/4 of one Christmas present is down:
Ei nämä sukat kyllä viikonloppuna edistyneet, mutta viikolla kyllä. Yhden illan kun jaksaisi niiden kanssa istua, niin saisi ne valmiiksi. Tuo step-lanka tuntuu nyt paljon paremmalta kuin keväällä, johtunee siitä että nyt ei ole kuuma ja siitä että nämä on ihan basic-mallia, vaikka varpaista.

The socks didn't really progress at all over the weekend, but during the weeknights they did. I could finish them is one night, so maybe that'll be my goal for tonight. This blog needs some FOs =D The Step-yarn I'm using (for the second time) feels a lot better than in spring. It's probably bcs it's not that hot now and my pattern is very very simple (or non existent, even)..
